Gir’s second door it also known as Gir Interpretation Zone. It was established specially for the tourist give wildlife encounter when the core zone permits are unavailable or when group includes tourist members who cannot manage the physical requirements of an open gypsy safari and zone offers a safari in caged gypsy or bus.
It occupies the fenced area approximately 412 hectare and it is carved out from Gir sanctuary zone. The animals inside lion, leopards, spotted deer, sambar deer, nilgai and other resident species live as genuinely wild animal within this enclosed landscape. Animals in zone not fed on a schedule and not habituated to close handling for visitor convenience.
Zone offers the more predictable encounter geometry because the animal range within the defined area and the vehicle follows the fixed particular route, sighting of multiple species on a single visit is substantially higher than the visiting to a open core zone.

It is located approximately 12 kilometres from the Sasan Gir Town, well inside the Gir sanctuary zone. The road connecting from Sasan Gir to Devalia passes through active wildlife terrain, after a kilometre of leaving main settlement the tree cover begins thickening and it is normal to spot spotted deer, nilgai or even leopard on rocky outcrop during the drive in. Most of the visitors make the mistake of treating the journey as only transfer from main settlement to Devalia, but the naturalist who know the road treat as beginning of safari.
Devalia has no direct public transport of its own and road not served by state buses. Every visitor has to arrive by private vehicle, taxis or vehicle arranged through hotel or tour operator. Once you stayed in Sasan Gir then it is easy to arrange vehicle an it takes 20-30 minutes under normal conditions.
